Compositions and image making media

The method of claim I in which the two or three-dimensional image support medium, artwork, picture, work of design, architectural structure or work of architecture is prepared with:

• (a) two or more parts that are physically connected, separate from one another or both;
• (b) two or more parts that are tiles, or that are a set, grouping or compositional arrangement of tiles that is a single work;
• (c) two or more parts that can be prepared in a compositional arrangement that are either capable of being rearranged into a different compositional arrangement at least once, or that are rearranged into a different compositional arrangement, once, twice or any number of times;
• (d) at least one device that is:
• interactive, responsive, light-emitting, an e-material or electronic paper display, an OLED, a LED, a LCD or another light emitter;
• or
• (e) a combination of these.

A method of making a macroscopic, two or three-dimensional image-making support medium which is a new reinvented version of a conventional utilitarian fine artist's canvas, canvas panel, canvas pad, art board, drawing pad or image support, the novel image support medium facilitates artistic expression and the creation and display of two or three-dimensional macroscopic art, design that is applied art, and/or architecture, made therewith, thereupon and/or therefrom, and the method requires

• making or developing the work so that it is macroscopic and two or three dimensional, and preparing it with at least one light-emissive device, at least one non-light-emissive device capable of change, or both,
• making or developing the work so that it is a whole in and of itself with distinct edges or boundaries,
• making or developing the work with the means to show a two or three-dimensional artwork, picture, work of design that is applied art, architectural structure or architectural work, and
• preparing the work with a means of display, presentation, mounting or installation that:
• (1) leaves space between it or a significant visible portion of it and the wall, ceiling, floor or other structure from or on which it is displayed, presented, mounted or installed;
• (2) preparing the work with a rigid mount system, a wire mount system, or a combination rigid and wire mount system;
• (3) preparing the work with a means that enables it or part of it to roll, scroll and/or fold;
• or (4) preparing the work with a combination of these;
• and
• making or developing the work prepared with one or more of (1) (4) above with at least one of the specifications in (A)-(C) below:
• (A) making or developing the work with at least one light-emitter that is one or a combination of:
• an organic light-emitting diode (OLED);
• a light-emitting display screen that is partially or entirely transparent or translucent;
• a light-emitting display screen capable of flexing or folding;
• a light-emitting display screen that is approximately about 6 mm thick or thinner;
• an organic light-emitting transistor (OLET), or a light emitting device that has at least one nanomaterial;
• (B) making or developing the work with at least one electronic paper display or e-material, and preparing it as:
• fine art;
• architecture;
• clothing design, fashion design, a work of design that is a clothing or fashion accessory, hat design or belt design;
• a work of design that functions as a tote bag, a handbag, or a container;
• costume design;
• jewelry design, or jewelry design that is a necklace, a bracelet, an anklet, a ring, a pin or earrings;
• furniture design or a table;
• a mural;
• a work of fine art or a work of design that is applied art for viewing or display on or in a wall or architectural structure;
• or a work of design that is applied art for viewing or display apart from being worn directly upon the human body as jewelry design, clothing design or watch design;
• and/or
• (C) making or developing the work with at least one visible tangible, transparent or translucent form or display capable of aesthetic change that can be seen from one or more sides or angles, with its visible aesthetic change capable of occurring independent of any separate light source that may be part of the work, with its visible aesthetic change requiring the work to be active rather than entirely passive, and with the transparent or translucent form or display being part or all of the work which is other than conventional privacy glass;
• and in addition,
• making or developing the work prepared with one or more of (1) (4) above and one or more of (A)-(C) above, as a two or three-dimensional artwork, picture, work of design that is applied art, architectural structure or work of architecture;
• preparing it as sculpture, a mobile, a mural, an openwork form, a kinetic aesthetic work, a pictorial work, a painting, fine art, collage or an aesthetic work with a visual effect or design resembling that in a well-known work of art;
• preparing the work to resemble a work by a well-known artist or designer;
• preparing the work with a visible signature or distinguishing mark identifying the artist, designer or group of artists and/or designers who created it which is other than the mark of an industrial or commercial manufacturer or scientific organization;
• or preparing the work with a title as art or design, and in addition,
• making or developing the aesthetic work so that it is free from any separate alternative functionality or purpose that differs from that described in this claim, so that it is free of being purely commercial or informational, and so that it is also other than a conventional computer, camera, phone, personal digital assistant device, portable media player device, a utilitarian wrist watch or a conventional window that changes uniformly to serve purely utilitarian purposes.

A method of making a macroscopic, two or three dimensional image-making support medium which is a new reinvented version of a conventional utilitarian fine artist's canvas, canvas panel, canvas pad, art board, drawing pad or image support, the novel image support medium facilitates artistic expression and the creation and display of two or three-dimensional macroscopic art, design that is applied art, and/or architecture, made therewith, thereupon and/or therefrom, and the method comprises:

• making or developing the work so that it is macroscopic, and so that it is a whole in and of itself with distinct edges or boundaries,
• making or developing the work with the means to show a two or three-dimensional artwork, picture, work of design that is applied art, architectural structure or work of architecture;
• making or developing the work with at least one synthetic polymer that is transparent, translucent, absorbent and/or conductive, and
• preparing the work with at least one of (A)-(G), plus one or more of (x), (y) or (z) below:
• (A) making or developing the work so that it has at least one visible surface that is transparent, translucent or both to allow light to pass into it or through it, and a polymer or a polymer composition that is partially or entirely poly (methyl methacrylate) or acrylic, or partially or entirely a polymer made with a methacrylate ester or methacrylamide derivative, and one or more of (a)-(c):
• (a) the at least one polymer or the polymer composition is:
• (i) partially but not completely poly(methyl methacrylate) or acrylic;
• (ii) partially but not completely polymer made with a methacrylate ester or methacrylamide derivative;
• (iii) partially or entirely paper thin or with substantially no perceivable depth;
• or (iv) partially rigid and partially flexible;
• (b) the at least one polymer or the polymer composition is stiffened with one or more of:
• a different polymer;
• an impact modifier stabilizer;
• a strengthening stabilizer of a different, stronger or more rigid polymer;
• one or more nanomaterials or a nanocomposite;
• and/or a strengthening stabilizer that is a surfacing veil fiberglass or a fiber that becomes largely invisible or invisible to the unaided human eye when used within or under transparent colorless polymer or when used within or under transparent colorless polymer that penetrates it, that is at least about a quarter of an inch thick, or both;
• and/or
• (c) the work has a stabilizer present to further enhance the ability of it or of the polymer to remain color stable or to remain unchanged with exposure to ultraviolet light;
• (B) the at least one polymer is a different nonabsorbent polymer or polymer composition than that described in (A) above, the work has at least one visible surface that is transparent, translucent or both to allow light to pass into it or through it;
• the work also has a stabilizer present to enhance the ability of the formed polymer, the polymer composition and/or the work to remain color stable or to remain unchanged with exposure to ultraviolet light, and the work has one or more of (i) (v):
• (i) the at least one polymer is polyester, it is polycarbonate, or the at least ne polymer is other than flexible acetate and other than polyvinyl chloride;
• (ii) the work has a form that is partially or entirely thicker than an ordinary sheet of paper or it has a form that is thick enough for its depth to be perceivable;
• (iii) the at least one polymer, the polymer composition or the work is at least partially rigid, inflexible, capable of supporting its own weight, or capable of freestanding;
• (iv) the at least one polymer or the polymer composition is:
• a copolymer, a mixture of two or more polymers and/or superimposed by a different polymer;
• and/or
• (v) the work is prepared with a means of display, presentation, mounting or installation that leaves space between it or a significant visible portion of it and the wall, ceiling, floor or other structure from or on which it is displayed, presented, mounted or installed;
• and/or the work is prepared with a rigid mount system, a wire mount system, or a combination rigid and wire mount system;
• (C) the work has:
• (i) a surface preparation stabilizer layer or other stabilizer is present to enhance or enable bonding;
• (ii) an impact modifier stabilizer present, (iii) a stabilizer present that affects surface flow or leveling;
• (iv) a stabilizer present that facilitates superimposing applications;
• and/or (v) a stabilizer present to modify the absorbency of the at least one polymer;
• (D) making or developing the work with:
• (i) at least one:
• lens with a positive or negative form;
• Fresnel lens;
• grating;
• diffraction grating;
• or transparent, or translucent lenticular lens or form;
• (ii) a photochromic effect and a form made for viewing apart from the human face, a form that is unsuitable or uncomfortable to wear on the human face or unable to fit on the human face;
• or a dichroic effect;
• and/or (iii) an electrochromic effect whereby the work or part of it responds to changes in electrical current by changing or by changing its state of or its level of:
• transparency, translucency, reflectivity, and/or by changing the path or color of the light passing through it;
• (E) making or developing the work so that it has at least one visible surface that is transparent, translucent or both to allow light to pass into it or through it, and preparing the image support medium with a strengthening stabilizer that is internal or on its underside that is optionally invisible or substantially invisible to viewers, wherein the work is also prepared with one or more of (i)-(v):
• (i) it is prepared with a stabilizer that provides or enhances its color stability or its ability to remains unchanged with exposure to ultraviolet light, and/or it is prepared with a stabilizer that enables or enhances bonding to a conventional artists' medium;
• (ii) it is cleaned sufficiently to render it receptive to artist's paint and to provide enhanced bond strength and permanence facilitating development of the aesthetic image;
• or
• (iii) it is prepared with a strengthening stabilizer that is a surfacing veil fiberglass or a fiber that becomes significantly invisible or invisible to the unaided human eye when used within or under transparent colorless polymer, when used within or under transparent colorless polymer that penetrates it and/or when used within or under transparent colorless polymer that is at least about a quarter inch thick;
• (iv) the work is prepared with a means of display, presentation, mounting or installation that leaves space between it or a significant visible portion of it and the wall, ceiling, floor or other structure from or on which it is displayed, presented, mounted or installed;
• and/or the work is prepared with a rigid mount system, a wire mount system, or a combination rigid and wire mount system;
• and/or
• (v) the work is accompanied by instructions for developing it, instructions for modifying or changing it, and/or instructions for displaying it;
• (F) the at least one polymer is a conductive polymer or a synthetic absorbent polymer, the work has one or more nanomaterials, or a combination of these, and/or
• (G) forming the work with texture resembling conventional canvas, deckled edges, irregularities resembling the texture of handmade paper, texture made by taking one or more positive or negative impressions from one or more organic or natural materials or a texture resembling this, or forming the work with a combination of these;
• and
• making or developing the work with one or more of the specifications in (A)-(G) above, and also with one or more of (x), (y) or (z) below:
• (x) making or developing the work as a two or three-dimensional artwork, picture, work of design that is applied art, architectural structure or work of architecture;
• preparing it as sculpture, a mobile, a mural, an openwork form, a kinetic aesthetic work, a pictorial work, a painting, a drawing, fine art, collage, an aesthetic work with a visual effect or design resembling that in a well-known work of art;
• preparing the work to resemble a work by a well-known artist or designer;
• preparing the work with a visible signature or distinguishing mark identifying the artist, designer or group of artists and/or designers who created it which is other than the mark of an industrial or commercial manufacturer or scientific organization;
• and/or preparing the work with a title as art or design;
• (y) forming the work with texture resembling conventional canvas, deckled edges, irregularities resembling the texture of handmade paper, texture made by taking one or more positive or negative impressions from one or more organic or natural materials or forming the work with a texture resembling this, and/or
• (z) preparing the work with a means of display as art or as design that is applied art.
