Alert Management Utilizing Mobile Devices

One or more non-transitory computer-storage media storing computer-useable instructions that, when used by one or more computing devices, cause the one or more computing devices to perform a method of managing patient alerts via an alert service, the method comprising:

• communicating, to a first mobile device executing the alert service, a pop-up message alert related to a patient, the first mobile device associated with a first caregiver assigned to care for the patient;
• interrupting, by the alert service, other processes executing on the first mobile device;
• and
• presenting the alert on a user interface on the first mobile device such that the alert overlies other elements of the user interface.

A non-transitory computer-storage medium having stored thereon instructions, executable by a mobile device, for an alert user interface for managing patient alerts, the alert user interface comprising:

• an alert identifier area that presents descriptive information associated with an alert;
• an alert area that presents one of a critical alert and a noncritical alert;
• an alert response area that presents selectable options of responses to the alert, the selectable options including an accept alert option, a reject alert option, and a message option;
• and
• a selectable option area, comprising one or more selectable graphical representations corresponding to one or more additional caregivers to whom the alert can be forwarded.

One or more non-transitory computer-storage media storing computer-useable instructions that, when used by one or more mobile devices, cause the one or more mobile devices to perform a method of managing patient alerts, the method comprising:

• receiving an alert at a first mobile device associated with a first caregiver of a group of one or more caregivers;
• receiving from the first caregiver an indication to share the alert from the first mobile device;
• displaying a list of additional caregivers, the list including an availability status of the additional caregivers;
• and
• receiving a selection of a second caregiver of the list of additional caregivers to whom the alert should be forwarded.
