In a camera module (51), a lid glass (15) protrudes from a sensor cover (14) toward an image pickup lens (1), and a base section (9) includes an overhanging part (9b) overhanging in such a manner as to cover part of the lid glass (15).

A camera module comprising:
- an image pickup element;
- a lens provided above the image pickup element;
- a housing section which has an opening facing the lens and which houses the image pickup element;
- and
- a translucent member which closes the opening,
- the housing section having a protrusion which protrudes in such a manner as to cover part of the image pickup element,
- the translucent member being fixed on the protrusion,
- the protrusion having a side surface which is inclined so as to be away from a center of the opening gradually in a downward direction from a side of the lens toward a side of the image pickup element.
