Integrated Voltage Sensor

An electrical apparatus, comprising:

• a resistor subassembly comprising:
• a resistor having a first end and a second end;
• a conductive member, wherein the conductive member is coupled to the first end of the resistor;
• a shield cup;
• a housing, wherein the housing includes at least one housing wall having at least one aperture, and wherein the housing encloses at least a portion of the resistor and overlaps with at least a portion of the shield cup;
• and
• a voltage detection circuit configured to detect the current from the second end of the resistor;
• wherein a housing volume of space between the at least one housing wall of the housing and the resistor is substantially filled with an insulating material and at least the outside of the housing is substantially covered with the insulating material.

A method for making a resistor subassembly, the method comprising:

• installing a plug on a second lead of a resistor;
• installing an insulating washer on the second lead of the resistor;
• installing a conductive shield component such that the conductive shield component at least partially encloses the second end of the resistor, the plug, and the insulating washer;
• coupling the resistor to the conductive member;
• installing a housing over the resistor, wherein the housing includes at least one housing wall having at least one aperture;
• and
• overmolding at least the housing, wherein a volume of space between the elongated wall of the housing and the resistor is substantially filled with an insulating material and at least the outside of the housing is substantially covered with the insulating material.
