Abstract
The invention relates to novel pharmaceutically-useful peptides, in particular cyclic peptides that are agonists of the AngII type 2 receptor (AT2 receptor). The invention further relates to the use of such peptides as medicaments, to pharmaceutical compositions containing them, and to their production.
Claims20
A cyclic peptide compound consisting of the amino acid sequence Xaa1-Asp-Arg-Ile/Val-Xaa5-Ile/Val-His-Xaa8 comprising a thioether-bridge linkage between the side chains of Xaa5 and Xaa8 such that Xaa5 and Xaa8 together form a structure according to either one of the general formula:
- wherein R, R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5 are independently selected from —H, a lower (e.g. C1-C10) alkyl or aralkyl group, preferably wherein R, R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5 are independently selected from H and CH3,
- and wherein Xaa1 is selected from the group consisting of charged amino acids, aromatic amino acids and hydrophobic amino acids and protease-resistant variants thereof,
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
