Abstract
A system and method for participating in a multi-USV performance in three-dimensional space. The USV can include: a location identification system operable to provide location coordinates, a guidance system operable to guide the USV toward target waypoints, a propulsion system operable to propel the USV, a power supply operable to provide power to components of the USV, and an exoskeleton surrounding the location identification system, the guidance system, the propulsion system, and the power supply, the exoskeleton including a set of sensory devices, and at least one latching mechanism operable to facilitate a docking operation with a proximate USV.
Claims20
An unmanned spatial vehicle (USV), comprising:
- a location identification system operable to provide location coordinates;
- a guidance system operable to guide the USV toward target waypoints;
- a propulsion system operable to propel the USV;
- a power supply operable to provide power to components of the USV;
- and
- an exoskeleton surrounding the location identification system, the guidance system, the propulsion system, and the power supply, the exoskeleton comprising:
- a set of sensory devices;
- and
- at least one latching mechanism operable to facilitate a docking operation with a proximate USV.
An unmanned spatial vehicle (USV) exoskeleton substantially surrounding a USV and comprising:
- a top opening and a bottom opening operable to allow thrust intake and exhaust of a USV propulsion system to move substantially unobstructed;
- a set of lateral openings operable to allow airflow to move substantially unobstructed through the framework;
- a set of mounts coupled with the framework, wherein the set of mounts is operable to couple the framework with a USV;
- and
- at least one latching mechanism operable to facilitate a docking operation with a proximate USV.
A method for performing an unmanned spatial vehicle (USV) docking operation, comprising:
- receiving, at a first USV, a first instruction to perform a docking operation;
- receiving, at a second USV, a second instruction to perform the docking operation;
- directing the first USV toward a first docking position;
- directing the second USV toward a second docking position;
- aligning a first latching mechanism of an exoskeleton of the first USV and a second latching mechanism of an exoskeleton of the second USV;
- and
- coupling the first latching mechanism with the second latching mechanism to form a docked USV structure.
