An adaptive deployable restraint element (10) for a vehicle safety system comprising a skeleton-type structure having one or more fluid chambers, wherein the skeleton-type structure is configured so that the restraint element (10) exerts a movement and/or curvature directed against the force pulse (fin ray effect) at least in portions by the effect of a force pulse, especially from outside on the restraint element.
