Abstract
Methods and systems include an actuator 40 adapted to provide drive power and hold power to an external device. A motor 34 provides for driving the external device to a determined position when the motor 34 is energized. A switching circuit is configured to energize the motor 34 with a high voltage to drive the external device to the determined position and energize the motor 34 with a low voltage to hold the external device in the determined position.
Claims20
An actuator adapted to provide drive power and hold power to an external device, comprising:
- a motor provided for driving the external device to a determined position when the motor is energized;
- and
- a switching circuit configured to energize the motor with a high voltage to drive the external device to the determined position and energize the motor with a low voltage to hold the external device in the determined position.
An actuator adapted to provide drive power and hold power to an external device, comprising:
- a motor for driving the external device to a determined position when energized;
- a drive/hold switch connected with the motor, the drive/hold switch configured to select a high voltage or a low voltage, the high voltage for energizing the motor to drive the external device to the determined position and the low voltage to hold the external device when a determined time has passed from a moment the motor is energized, where the low voltage is lower than the high voltage;
- and
- an active/return switch connected with the motor, the active/return switch configured to connect the motor with a zener diode when the motor is acting as a generator.
A method for providing drive power and hold power to an external device, comprising:
- selecting, with a switching circuit, a high voltage or a low voltage, the high voltage for energizing a motor to drive the external device to a determined position and the low voltage to hold the external device when a determined time has passed from a moment the motor is energized, where the low voltage is lower than the high voltage;
- and
- proving a load to the motor when no power is supplied to the motor.
