Abstract
In one example, a method of controlling generation apparatus for generating a three-dimensional object is described. For example, data indicative of at least one physical property affecting heat transfer from an object may be determined and used to determine a cooling time, and a component of the generation apparatus may be controlled in response to the determined cooling time.
Claims15
A method of controlling generation apparatus for generating a three-dimensional object, wherein the object is generated by heating a build material to cause coalescence of the build material, the method comprising:
- determining data indicative of at least one physical property affecting heat transfer from the object;
- determining a cooling time using the determined data;
- controlling a component of the generation apparatus in response to the determined cooling time.
Apparatus for generating a three-dimensional object from a build material, the apparatus comprising:
- an object generation module to generate an object in a layer-wise manner by heating build material;
- an object receptacle to house a generated object;
- a controller;
- and
- at least one controllable component,
- wherein the at least one controllable component is controllable by the controller in response to a determined cooling time, and the cooling time is a cooling time which has been determined using data indicative of at least one physical property of a content of the object receptacle following generation of an object.
A non-transitory machine-readable storage medium encoded with instructions executable by a processor, the machine-readable storage medium comprising instructions to:
- cause a data determining module to determine data indicative of at least one physical property related to heat transfer from an object produced by an apparatus arranged to generate at least one three-dimensional object in a layer-wise manner by heating a build material;
- cause a cooling time determining module to determine a cooling time for the object using the determined data;
- cause a control signal generating module to generate an output control signal according to the determined cooling time.
