Abstract
Provided herein is a controlled release and/or sustained release depot drug delivery system, comprising, a biodegradable polymer coating and an API coated with the biodegradable polymer coating, wherein a quantity of API coated with biodegradable polymer is effective to be released. from the biodegradable polymer coating over a prolonged period of time.
Claims15
A controlled release and/or sustained release depot drug delivery system, comprising:
- (a) a biodegradable polymer capsule and a pha lly efficacious quantity of nattrexone situated within with the biodegradable polymer capsule,
- (b) wherein a the quantity of naltrexone coated with biodegradable polymer is effective to be released from the biodegradable polymer capsule over a prolonged period of time in a continuous or rnonophosic manner.
(canceled)
A controlled release system comprising:
- (a) a biodegradable polymeric capsule, and;
- (b) between about 0.01% by wt and about 99.99% by wt of naltrexone encapsulated within the polymeric capsule, wherein fractional amounts of the API can be released from the polymeric matrix during and after degradation of the polymer capsule over a period of time extending from about 10 days to about two years.
A method for making a controlled release system, the method comprising the steps of encapsulating a pharmaceutically effective composition comprising an API in a biodegradable polymer capsule
A method for using a continuous release system, the method comprising injection or implantation of a controlled release system which includes an API coated with a biodegradable polymeric matrix, thereby treating a disorder influenced by the APL
