Image processing device and image processing method

An image processing method comprising:

• generating, by an image processing device, a combined image in which a first image that is obtained by capturing an image of a subject in a front view direction which is a distal end direction of a probe is located in a predetermined region whose region size is set according to zoom magnification of the first image, and a second image that is obtained by capturing an image of a subject in a view field direction that differs from the front view direction of the probe is located at an outer circumference of the predetermined region.

An endoscope system comprising:

• an endoscope that includes a first image capturing unit that captures an image of a subject in a front view direction which is a distal end direction of a probe, and a second image capturing unit that captures an image of a subject in a view field direction that differs from the front view direction of the probe;
• and
• an image combining unit that generates a combined image in which the first image is located in a predetermined region whose region size is set according to zoom magnification of the first image, and the second image is located at an outer circumference of the predetermined region.
