Processing of multimedia data

A method for providing media content comprising media segments to a streaming player wherein the media segments are transmitted from a server device to a streaming player, the method comprising:

• estimating an original media segment availability time indicating time the media segment are made available for transmission at the server device;
• estimating a media segment availability time for requesting subsequent media segments by modifying the original media segment availability time with a correction value compensating a variation in a reception intervals of media segments so that the media segments are made available at the streaming player at a constant time interval;
• and
• signaling the estimated media segment availability time to the streaming player.

A user equipment (UE) device adapted to provide a media content comprising media segments to a streaming player wherein the media segments are transmitted from a server device to a streaming player, the device comprising:

• a receiver adapted to receive a first media segment;
• a determination logic adapted to determine time of reception of the first media segment;
• an estimation logic adapted to estimate a media segment availability time for requesting subsequent media segments by modifying the determined time of the reception of the first media segment with a correction value compensating a variation in a reception intervals of media segments so that the streaming player receives the media segments at a constant time interval;
• and
• a sender adapted to signal the estimated availability time to the streaming player.

A server device adapted to provide a media content comprising media segments to a streaming player wherein the media segments are transmitted from a server device to a streaming player, the server device comprising:

• a receiver adapted to estimate an original media segment availability time indicating time the media segment are made available for transmission at the server device;
• a processor adapted to estimate a media segment availability time for requesting subsequent media segments by modifying the original media segment availability time with a correction value compensating a variation in a reception intervals of media segments so that the media segments are made available at the streaming player at a constant time interval;
• and
• a sender adapted to signaling the estimated availability time to the streaming player.
