Abstract
Methods and devices enable a fine synchronization related to a data transmission on a physical channel. A fine timing reference signal is occasionally transmitted to the data transmission recipient using one of time-frequency resources in a recipient-specific pattern.
Claims28
A method implemented in a wireless device connected to a communication network, the method comprising:
- listening according to a fine timing reference signal, FTRS, pattern that includes a sequence of time-frequency resources, until detecting a FTRS related to a data transmission on a physical channel;
- and
- receiving the data transmission on the physical channel.
A wireless device connectable to a communication network, the wireless device comprising:
- a transceiver configured to listen for a fine timing reference signal (FTRS) related to a data transmission on a physical channel, and to receive the data transmission;
- and
- at least one processor configured to control the transceiver to listen for the FTRS according to an FTRS pattern that includes a group of time-frequency resources, until the FTRS is detected, and to decode the data transmission.

A method implemented in a network device of a communication network, the method comprising:
- detecting a trigger for transmitting a fine timing reference signal, FTRS, related to a data transmission on a physical channel, for a wireless device;
- and
- transmitting the FTRS according to an FTRS pattern associated with the wireless device and including a sequence of time-frequency resources.
A network device of a communication network, the network device comprising:
- at least one processor configured to detect a trigger for transmitting a fine timing reference signal, FTRS, related to a data transmission on a physical channel;
- and
- a transceiver connected to and controlled by the at least one processor to transmit the FTRS according to an FTRS pattern that includes a group of time-frequency resources.
