Abstract
A method for operating a data storage device includes determining a valid page distribution characteristic of used memory blocks; and performing a garbage collection operation based on the valid page distribution characteristic of used memory blocks.

A method for operating a data storage device, comprising:
- determining a valid page distribution characteristic of used memory blocks;
- and
- performing a garbage collection operation based on the valid page distribution characteristic of used memory blocks.
A data storage device comprising:
- a memory device including a plurality of memory blocks;
- and
- a controller suitable for determining a valid page distribution characteristic of used memory blocks among the plurality of memory blocks, and performing a garbage collection operation based on the valid page distribution characteristic of used memory blocks.
