A terminator formed in such a way that the terminator is connected to one end of an optical waveguide and including a curved optical waveguide having such a curvature that it causes a bending loss in an input light input from the optical waveguide, the input light decaying as it propagates through the curved optical waveguide.

A method for manufacturing an optical device comprising:

• forming an optical waveguide through which light propagates on a substrate;
• and
• forming a terminator on the substrate in such a way that the terminator is connected to one end of the optical waveguide, the terminator including a curved optical waveguide having such a curvature that it causes a bending loss in an input light input from the optical waveguide, the input light decaying as it propagates through the curved optical waveguide.
