Abstract
Examples disclosed herein relate to application of a coating fluid. Examples include an apparatus including a first coating applicator to apply a coating fluid to a plurality of first rollers; a first transfer roller in contact with the plurality of first rollers to receive coating fluid; and a media path to apply coating fluid from the first transfer roller to a first side of a media, wherein the plurality of first rollers are shorter than the first transfer roller and are individually movable along its longitudinal axes such that they may positioned to apply a variable width of coating fluid onto the first transfer roller.
Claims15
An apparatus, comprising:
- a first roller to apply a coating fluid to a media with a first length;
- a second roller to apply a coating fluid to a first portion of the first roller;
- a third roller to apply a coating fluid to a second portion of the first roller;
- and
- wherein the second roller and the third roller are movable along a longitudinal axis to be positioned to vary the width of the coating fluid applied to the first roller.
A system, comprising:
- a first coating applicator to apply a coating fluid to a plurality of first rollers;
- a first transfer roller in contact with the plurality of first rollers to receive the coating fluid;
- and
- a media path to apply coating fluid from the first transfer roller to a first side of a medium,
- wherein the plurality of first rollers are shorter than the first transfer roller and are individually movable along its longitudinal axes such that they may be positioned to apply a variable width of coating fluid onto the first transfer roller.
A method for applying coating fluid to a print medium, comprising:
- determining a width and a location of a print job according to the width of the print medium in a media path;
- moving automatically a plurality of first rollers individually along respective longitudinal axes of the plurality of first rollers to align the first rollers with the width and the location of the print job;
- applying the coating fluid from a coating applicator to a second roller via the plurality of first rollers;
- and
- applying the coating fluid to the print medium from the second roller.
