Abstract
A sockliner for a shoe may be formed to include an integral fabric skirt. The fabric skirt may remain loose from the sockliner along at least a portion of the periphery of the sockliner. The loose periphery of the fabric skirt may be used to join the sockliner to other shoe components, as in a strobel-type seam.
Claims20
A sockliner, the sockliner comprising:
- a compressible foam body, the body having a surface, the surface having a central portion and a periphery;
- and
- a fabric skirt having a surface and a periphery, the surface of the fabric skirt joined to the surface of the body in the central portion, leaving at least a portion of the periphery of the fabric skirt loose from at least a portion of the periphery of the body.
A method for making a sockliner with an integrated fabric edge, the method comprising:
- providing a mold having a central portion and a peripheral portion;
- placing a fabric skirt in the mold;
- introducing a foam into the mold;
- and
- joining a portion of the fabric skirt to the foam in or proximate to the central portion of the mold by at least partially impregnating the fabric skirt with the foam.
2 more elements
A mold for forming a sockliner with an integrated fabric skirt, the mold comprising:
- a forming surface defining a cavity within the mold, the forming surface having a central portion and a periphery;
- and
- one or more indentations in the central portion of the forming surface, the one or more indentations permitting fluid communication of a flowable foam from the cavity into the one or more indentations.
