System And Method To Provide High-Quality Blending Of Video And Graphics

A method comprising:

• generating graphics in a first colorspace;
• receiving video in a second colorspace;
• converting the graphics to a third colorspace forming converted graphics;
• converting the video to the third colorspace forming converted video;
• blending the converted video and the converted graphics to generate a blended output;
• adjusting the blended output based on the converted video, the converted graphics, and the blended output to generate an adjusted output;
• and
• converting the adjusted output to the second colorspace to generate a converted output.

A system comprising:

• a graphics converter configured to receive graphics in a first colorspace and a first nonlinear space;
• a video converter configured to receive video in a second colorspace and a second nonlinear space, the video converter being configured to convert the video to a third nonlinear space, the graphics converter being configured to convert the graphics to the second colorspace and the third nonlinear space;
• a processor configured to blend the video and the graphics in the second colorspace and the third nonlinear space to generate a blended output;
• and
• a blended output converter configured to convert the blended output from the third nonlinear space to the second nonlinear space to generate and video output.
