Abstract
An object retrieval device and associated methods of operation and manufacture are disclosed. In certain embodiments, the object retrieval device comprises a grasping member having one or more elongated members integrally formed therein. The grasping member can be coupled to an elongated support member. In turn, the elongated support member can support an elongated actuator allowing actuation of the grasping member.
Claims20
An object retrieval device, comprising:
- a plurality of gripping apertures adjacent and substantially coplanar with one another;
- at least one elongate member operably coupled at a proximal end to the plurality of gripping apertures, the at least one elongate member comprising at least one grasping member operably coupled at a distal end;
- and
- at least two of the following elements being movable relative one another:
- the plurality of gripping apertures, the at least one elongate member, and the at least one grasping member.
2 more elements
A method of operating an object retrieval device, the method comprising:
- inserting one of a user's digits into each of a plurality of gripping apertures, respectively, wherein the plurality of gripping apertures are adjacent and substantially coplanar with one another;
- and
- displacing a first portion of the plurality of gripping apertures relative to a second portion of the plurality of gripping apertures, wherein the displacing causes one or more of at least one elongate member and at least one grasping member to move relative one another.
A method of manufacturing an object retrieval device, the method comprising:
- forming a first elongate member, wherein forming the first elongate member comprises forming at least one grasping member at a distal end;
- forming a second elongate member into a plurality of gripping apertures at a proximal end, wherein the gripping apertures are adjacent and substantially coplanar with one another;
- and
- forming the first and second elongate members such that at least two of the following elements are movable relative one another:
- the plurality of gripping apertures, the first and second elongate member, and the at least one grasping member.
