Abstract
The invention relates to a method for the manufacture of a pressurised Metered Dose Inhaler (pMDI) and components for use in said method, in particular, a pMDI compatible tablet (i.e. one that is able to be dispersed or disintegrates within a liquid phase, such as a propellant, used in a pMDI formulation) which contains at least one active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) and, optionally, one or more excipients.
Claims46

- i) compressing a selected amount of at least one particulate active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) into a tablet;
- ii) placing said tablet into a canister;
- iii) fixedly attaching a dispensing valve to said canister;
- and
- iv) dispensing a liquid phase into said canister.
A tablet for use in the manufacture of a pressurised metered dose inhalers (pMDI) comprising:
- i) a selected amount of at least one active pharmaceutical ingredient (API);
- ii) a disintegrant that is soluble in a liquid phase;
- and
- iii) optionally, at least one excipient.
