Abstract
The present invention provides peptides and pharmaceutical compositions thereof for appetite suppression and weight control. Preferred peptides are calcitonin analogs preferably with specific amino acid changes to make the peptide more amylin-like.

An oral dosage formulation comprising a peptide active agent, a pH-lowering agent and absorption enhancers, wherein the peptide active agent is a 32 amino acid peptide, wherein the amino acid sequence of the peptide is at least 93 percent identical to SEQ ID NO:
- 1, wherein position 26 is aspartic acid and position 27 is valine, and wherein position 29 is serine or alanine, position 30 is not glycine and position 32 is not proline.
