Mobile device radio management

A system comprising:

• one or more wireless radio systems;
• and
• a processor that
• maintains a wake-up timer that expires after a wake-up interval,
• adjusts a length of the wake-up interval based on one or more factors, and,
• when the wake-up timer expires, turns on at least a first one of the one or more wireless radio systems, and uses the first wireless radio system to perform a scan of the environment to identify one or more access points.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium having instructions stored thereon, wherein the instructions, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to:

• maintain a wake-up timer that expires after a wake-up interval;
• adjust a length of the wake-up interval based on one or more factors;
• and,
• when the wake-up timer expires, turn on at least a first one of the one or more wireless radio systems, and use the first wireless radio system to perform a scan of the environment to identify one or more access points.
