Abstract
Systems and method for improving performance of a radio frequency system are provided. One embodiment describes a radio frequency system, which may be modified based upon a detected housing and/or accessory of an electronic device. The modifications may counteract impacts of the housings and/or accessories on the radio frequency transmission.
Claims31
An electronic device, comprising:
- a radio frequency system, configured to communicate with a radio frequency reader;
- tangible, non-transitory storage, comprising configuration adjustment logic that comprises machine-readable instructions that associate one or more settings for the radio frequency system with one or more electronic device housings, one or more electronic device accessories, or both;
- and
- a processor configured to:
- determine at least one identity, characteristic, or both of at least one housing of the electronic device, at least one proximate accessory of the electronic device, or both;
- receive at least one particular setting from the one or more settings that is associated with the identity, the characteristic, or both;
- and
- apply the at least one particular setting to the radio frequency system.
5 more elements
A processor-implemented method, comprising:
- determining at least one identity, characteristic, or both of at least one housing of an electronic device, at least one proximate accessory of the electronic device, or both;
- querying for and receiving at least one particular setting associated with the identity, the characteristic, or both from a set of settings associated with one or more housings, one or more accessories, or both, wherein the particular setting is configured to counteract an impact of the one or more housings, one or more accessories, or both;
- and
- applying the at least one particular setting to a radio frequency system of the electronic device.
1 more element
A radio frequency system, configured to:
- receive one or more particular settings associated with at least one housing, at least one accessory, or both of an electronic device associated with the radio frequency system, wherein the one or more particular settings are configured to counteract an impact of the at least one housing, at least one accessory, or both communications of the radio frequency system;
- and
- communicate with a radio frequency reader, using the one or more particular settings.
A tangible, non-transitory, machine-readable medium, comprising machine-readable instructions to:
- determine one or more housings, proximate accessories, or both associated with a current electronic device;
- determine one or more settings, field strengths, or both of a radio frequency system of the current electronic device;
- perform an interoperability test between the radio frequency system and at least one radio frequency reader to determine whether or not a threshold performance has been reached;
- if the threshold performance has not been reached:
- modify at least one of the one or more settings;
- and
- re-run the interoperability test, repeating these steps until the threshold performance has been reached;
- once the threshold performance has been reached:
- store the one or more settings and associate them with the one or more housings, proximate accessories, or both;
- and
- provide the one or more settings associated with the one or more housings, proximate accessories, or both to the electronic device.
