Flexible caching of resource oriented web services

A method of cache management, the method being implemented by one or more processors and comprising:

• receiving a request for a resource, the request including a resource locator comprising a hierarchical structure;
• fetching the resource from a node upon determining that the resource is not stored in a cache;
• adding an entry for the resource to a mapping table associated with the cache, the entry including (i) the resource locator, and (ii) dependency information for one or more dependent resources identified from the hierarchical structure of the resource locator;
• and
• updating entries in the mapping table for master resources identified from the hierarchical structure of the resource locator, the updated entries including an identifier for the resource.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium that stores instructions, executable by one or more processors, to cause the one or more processors to perform operations that comprise:

• receiving a request for a resource, the request including a resource locator comprising a hierarchical structure;
• fetching the resource from a node upon determining that the resource is not stored in a cache;
• adding an entry for the resource to a mapping table associated with the cache, the entry including (i) the resource locator, and (ii) dependency information for one or more dependent resources identified from the hierarchical structure of the resource locator;
• and
• updating entries in the mapping table for master resources identified from the hierarchical structure of the resource locator, the updated entries including an identifier for the resource.
