Display System for a Vehicle, In Particular Commercial Vehicle

A display system for a vehicle, comprising:

• a capturing unit for capturing image data of the vehicle environment;
• a calculation unit, and
• a display unit for displaying an image to be displayed with an image portion;
• wherein the calculation unit is adapted to carry out a modification of the image data captured by the capturing unit and to supply the modified image data to the display unit for display,
• wherein the modification includes overlaying or superimposing an overlay portion on the image portion of the image to be displayed, the overlay portion being located within or directly adjacent to the image portion,
• wherein the image portion further includes a measuring portion where an image characteristic of the image portion is acquired, and wherein the calculation unit is adapted to set an overlay portion characteristic dependent on the acquired image characteristic, and
• wherein the calculation unit is adapted to determine the overlay portion characteristic time-delayed with regard to the acquisition of the image characteristic of the image portion, if a certain characteristic of the image portion is present for a certain period of time.
