Abstract
Aspects of the present invention include optimizing selection of a replication data node in a Hadoop Distributed File System. In embodiments of the present invention, optimizing the replication data node selection can be based on a priorities based algorithm. In embodiments of the present invention, optimizing replication data node selection can be based on a relative comparison of parameters.
Claims20
A distributed file system in a storage system, comprising:
- a source block of data stored in a source data node;
- a name node coupled to the source data node, the name node stores a mapping of blocks of data and associated meta data;
- a replication block of data representing a replication of the source block, the replication block stored in a replication data node;
- a controller coupled to the name node, the controller configured to select an optimal replication data node based on a plurality of parameter.
A method for optimizing replication data node selection in a distributed file system, comprising:
- receiving information related to network topology;
- and
- using the information related to network topology to optimally select a replication data node to replicate a source block.
A non-transitory computer readable medium or media comprising one or more sequences of instructions which, when executed by one or more processors, causes steps for optimizing replication data node selection in a distributed file system comprising:
- receiving information related to network topology;
- and
- using the information related to network topology to optimally select a replication data node to replicate a source block.
