A neuroglobin agonist for use in the treatment or prevention of a mitochondrial disease associated with respiratory chain complex I (RCCI) deficiency and/or respiratory chain complex III (RCCIII) deficiency.
A method for preventing or treating a mitochondrial disease associated with respiratory chain complex I (RCCI) deficiency and/or respiratory chain complex III (RCCIII) deficiency in a subject having or at risk of having such a disorder, comprising administration of a therapeutically effective amount of a neuroglobin agonist to the subject.
