• The method of claim 1, wherein the cannabinoid is derived from at least one cannabinoid source selected from the list consisting of Cannabis sativa, Cannabis indica, Cannabis ruderalis, Echinacea purpurea, Echinacea angustifolia, Echinacea pallida, Acmella oleraca, Helichrysum umbraculigerum, and Radula marginata.

• The method of claim 3, wherein the ester is derived from the cannabinoid source.

• The method of claim 1, wherein the bio-active ingredient is selected from the list consisting of tetrahydrocannabinol, cannabidiol, cannabinol, dodeca-2E,4E,8Z,10E/Z-tetraenoic-acid-isobutylamides, cannabigerol, cannabichromene, cannabicyclol, cannabivarin, tetrahydrocannabivarin, cannabidivarin, cannabichromevarin, cannabigerovarin, and cannabigerol monomethyl ether.

• The method of claim 1, wherein the pharmacological effect is produced by reception by the cannabinoid receptor of tetrahydrocannabinol, cannabidiol, or a mixture of the tetrahydrocannabinol and the cannabidiol.

• The method of claim 1, wherein the composition further comprises ethanol.

• The method of claim 1, wherein the composition further comprises an absorption enhancing agent that creates a condition of polymorphism to enhance absorption into the mucosa.

• The method of claim 8, wherein the absorption enhancing agent further comprises at least one ingredient selected from the list consisting of dimethyl sulfoxide, plant lecithins, liposomes, food derived surfactants, and fatty alcohols.

• The method of claim 1, wherein the composition further comprises a flavoring agent.

• The method of claim 1, wherein the composition further comprises an aromatherapy agent.
