Abstract
Described are oligomeric/polymeric silicone fluids useful in transdermal drug delivery systems. Also described are compositions for the transdermal delivery of a drug comprising a drug-containing polymer matrix comprising a drug; a carrier polymer, and an oligomeric/polymeric silicone fluid having repeating —Si(CH3)2—O— units. Related methods and uses also are described.
Claims17
A composition for the transdermal delivery of a drug in the form of a flexible finite system for topical application, comprising a drug-containing polymer matrix comprising (i) a drug;
- (ii) a carrier polymer, and (iii) from 2.5 to 50% by weight of an oligomeric/polymeric silicone fluid having repeating —Si(CH3)2—O— units.
A method of preparing a composition for the transdermal delivery of a drug in the form of a flexible finite system for topical application, comprising preparing a drug-containing polymer matrix comprising (i) a drug;
- (ii) a carrier polymer, and (iii) from 2.5 to 50% by weight of an oligomeric/polymeric silicone fluid having repeating —Si(CH3)2—O— units.
