Abstract
Systems for delivering a sheet-like implant including a means of deploying and orienting the sheet-like implant within the body.
Claims20
An implant delivery system for delivering a sheet-like implant, the implant delivery system comprising:
- an elongate insertion portion having a proximal end and a distal end, said insertion portion defining a generally longitudinal direction;
- an implant holder assembly proximate the distal end of the elongate insertion portion, the implant holder assembly comprising a first leg and a second leg each having a proximal and a distal end with the proximal end of each leg pivotably coupled to the distal end of the elongate insertion portion, the first and second legs moveable between a closed position and an open position wherein in the closed position the legs extend generally in the longitudinal direction and in pivoting to the open position the distal end of each leg moves in a generally transverse direction;
- and
- a sheet-like implant coupled to the implant holder assembly, wherein the sheet-like implant is folded when the legs of the implant holder assembly are in the closed position and unfolded when the legs of the implant holder assembly are in the open position to spread the sheet-like implant positioned on the implant holder assembly such that the sheet-like implant has a generally planar configuration that is substantially parallel to an axis defined by the longitudinal direction of the elongate insertion portion.

A system for delivering a sheet-like implant comprising:
- a sheet-like implant;
- an elongate insertion portion having a proximal end and a distal end, the elongate insertion portion having a longitudinal axis;
- an implant holder assembly proximate the distal end of the elongate insertion portion, the implant holder assembly including a first leg and a second leg, the first leg and the second leg being moveable between a closed position and an open position;
- wherein in the closed position the distal ends of the first leg and the second leg are positioned at a first distance from the longitudinal axis with the sheet-like implant releasably attached to the first and second legs;
- wherein in the open position the distal ends of the first and second legs are positioned at a second distance from the longitudinal axis greater than the first distance with the sheet-like implant in a planar configuration extending generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the elongate insertion portion.

An implant delivery system for delivering a sheet-like implant, the implant delivery device comprising:
- a sheet-like implant;
- a delivery shaft having a proximal end, a distal end, and a longitudinal axis;
- a first leg disposed at the distal end of the delivery shaft and a second leg disposed at the distal end of the delivery shaft, the first leg and the second leg configured to engage the sheet-like implant to transition the sheet-like implant from a first configuration to an second configuration, wherein the first leg and the second leg are moveable between a closed position and an open position;
- and
- wherein, in the closed position, distal ends of the first leg and the second leg are positioned at a first distance from the longitudinal axis;
- wherein, in the open position, the distal ends of the first and second legs are positioned at a second distance from the longitudinal axis greater than the first distance;
- and
- wherein the distal ends of the first and second legs are configured to diverge away from one another as the first and second legs move from the closed position to the open position to spread the sheet-like implant from the first configuration to the second configuration.
