Location-based dock for a computing device

A docketing station for a computing device comprising:

• a processor;
• a machine-readable medium coupled to the processor and configured to maintain a location indicator that indicates a location of the docking station;
• and
• an interface configured to couple to a computing device and to provide the location indicator to the computing device, wherein the processor is configured to perform the operations of:
• selecting a first system configuration of the computing device from a plurality of system configurations of the computing device based on the location indicator;
• wherein the first system configuration corresponds to a navigation function of the computing device;
• and
• transmitting the first system configuration information to the computing device to alter the functionality of the computing device in response to the location indicator.

A system for configuring a functionality of a computing device based on a location, the system comprising:

• a computing device, wherein the computing device is configured to:
• receive a first location indicator that indicates a first location of a first docking station coupled to the computing device;
• correlate the first location indicator to a first system configuration of a plurality of system configurations of the computing device;
• select the first system configuration of the computing device from the plurality of system configurations based on the location indicator, wherein the first system configuration corresponds to a navigation function of the computing device;
• and
• alter the functionality of the computing device based on the selected first system configuration.
