Efficient deployment of thin client applications to end user

A method comprising:

• receiving, by use of a processor, a launch request for a thin client application from a local device, wherein the launch request identifies a first file package stored on the local device;
• identifying a second file package for a thin client application, the second file package stored on a server and corresponding to a current version of the thin client application;
• comparing the first file package to the second file package;
• and
• compiling a minimum set of updates needed to transform the first file package into a copy of the second file package.

A program product comprising a computer readable storage medium that stores code executable by a processor, the executable code comprising code to perform:

• receiving a launch request for a thin client application from a local device, wherein the launch request identifies a local file package stored on the local device;
• determining whether the local file package is out of date in response to the launch request;
• identifying a server file package for to the thin client application in response to the local file package being out of date, the server file package corresponding to a current version of the thin client application;
• and
• downloading, to the local device, a minimum set of updates needed to transform the local file package into a copy of the server file package.
