Target port processing of a data transfer

An article comprising a non-transitory computer readable storage medium to store instructions that when executed by a computer cause the computer to:

• program a port processor with at least one parameter describing at least one characteristic of a write command from an initiator for which the port processor is to process the write operation by indicating a readiness to the initiator to receive data associated with the write command and transfer the data to a memory region allocated prior to receipt of the write command by the port processor;
• and
• allocate memory for the port processor to transfer data associated with another write command not described by the at least one parameter after receipt of the another write command by the port processor.
