Footwear for use in Specialized Activities

A method for managing a foot of a user using footwear for use during a specialized activity by the user, the footwear comprising:

• first elements for engaging the foot of the user;
• second elements for engaging elements to be used in the specialized activity;
• the method comprising engaging the foot of the user with dorsal and plantar elements of said first elements which are substantially fixed in spacing so as to be substantially inelastic and incompressible during the specialized activity so as to control a maximum height of an arch of the foot at substantially all times during the specialized activity regardless of a position or orientation of the foot.
