Method and system for processing a monetary transaction

A method for processing a monetary transaction, said method comprising:

• receiving, at a point-of-sale (POS) device, a redemption request of a registered first virtual currency instrument for processing said monetary transaction;
• determining, at said POS device, an excess value by which said received redemption request is higher than a first value associated with said registered first virtual currency instrument;
• receiving, at said POS device, display data from a server, wherein said display data comprises registered one or more other virtual currency instruments;
• transmitting, by said POS device, said received display data to an electronic device;
• receiving, by said POS device, a selection of said registered said one or more other virtual currency instruments from said electronic device for redemption of said excess value;
• and
• transmitting, by said POS device, said received selection of said registered said one or more other virtual currency instruments to said server, wherein said server processes said monetary transaction based on redemption of said first value and at least portions of one or more other values associated with said received selection of said registered said one or more other virtual currency instruments.

A system for processing a monetary transaction, said system comprising:

• one or more circuits in a server, said one or more circuits being operable to:
• register a first virtual currency instrument corresponding to a first account and one or more other virtual currency instruments corresponding to one or more other accounts, wherein said registered first virtual currency instrument is associated with a first value;
• receive a redemption request of said registered first virtual currency instrument for processing said monetary transaction, wherein a value of said received redemption request is higher than said first value associated with said registered first virtual currency instrument by an excess value;
• and
• redeem said first value associated with said registered first virtual currency instrument and at least portions of one or more other values associated with said registered said one or more other virtual currency instruments corresponding to said excess value, to process said monetary transaction.

A system for processing a monetary transaction, said system comprising:

• one or more circuits in a point-of-sale (POS) device, said one or more circuits being operable to:
• receive a redemption request of a registered first virtual currency instrument for processing said monetary transaction;
• determine an excess value by which said received redemption request is higher than a first value associated with said registered first virtual currency instrument;
• receive display data from a server, wherein said display data comprises registered one or more other virtual currency instruments;
• select one or more of said registered said one or more other virtual currency instruments for redemption of said excess value;
• and
• transmit said selection of said registered said one or more other virtual currency instruments to said server, wherein said server processes said monetary transaction based on redemption of said first value and at least portions of one or more other values associated with said received selection of said registered said one or more other virtual currency instruments.

An electronic device for processing a monetary transaction, said electronic device comprising:

• one or more circuits being operable to:
• communicate to a server, a redemption request of a registered first virtual currency instrument for processing said monetary transaction, wherein said communicated redemption request is higher than a first value associated with said registered first virtual currency instrument by an excess value;
• receive display data from a server, wherein said display data comprises registered one or more other virtual currency instruments;
• select one or more of said registered said one or more other virtual currency instruments for redemption of said excess value;
• and
• transmit said selection of said registered said one or more other virtual currency instruments to said server, wherein said server processes said monetary transaction based on redemption of said first value and at least portions of one or more other values associated with said transmitted selection of said registered said one or more other virtual currency instruments.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having stored thereon, a computer program having at least one code section for processing a monetary transaction, said at least one code section being executable by a computer for causing said computer to perform steps comprising:

• registering, at a server, a first virtual currency instrument corresponding to a first account and one or more other virtual currency instruments corresponding to one or more other accounts, wherein said registered first virtual currency instrument is associated with a first value;
• receiving, at said server, a redemption request of said registered first virtual currency instrument for processing said monetary transaction, wherein a value of said received redemption request is higher than said first value associated with said registered first virtual currency instrument by an excess value;
• and
• redeeming, at said server, said first value associated with said registered first virtual currency instrument and at least portions of one or more other values associated with said registered said one or more other virtual currency instruments corresponding to said excess value, to process said monetary transaction.
