Abstract
The present invention is directed to a rubber composition comprising a diene based elastomer comprising a functional group selected from the group consisting of hydroxyl, primary amine, and secondary amine; and a binding agent selected from the group consisting of water-dispersible resin, polyelectrolytes, and polypeptides. The invention is further directed to a pneumatic tire including the rubber composition, and a method of increasing the green strength in a rubber composition.

A method of increasing the green strength of a rubber composition, comprising the steps of:
- mixing a diene based elastomer latex with an aqueous dispersion of a binding agent selected from the group consisting of water-dispersible resin, polyelectrolytes, and polypeptides, to form a mixture comprising solids and liquid, wherein the diene based elastomer comprises a functional group selected from the group consisting of hydroxyl, primary amine, and secondary amine;
- and
- separating the solids from the liquid to obtain a solid composite.
