Abstract
A process for the preparation of the fluoroalkyl sulfonate salt of a nitrogen-based organic base said process comprising the step of reacting a fluoroalkyl sulfonyl halide with an organic base selected from the group consisting of tertiary amines, pyridines, amidines and guanidines.

A process for the preparation of the fluoroalkyl sulfonate salt of an organic base said process comprising the step of reacting a fluoroalkyl sulfonyl halide with an organic base selected from the group consisting of pyridines, amidines and guanidines.
A fluoroalkyl sulfonate salt of formula
- wherein Rf is CF2CF2OCFClCF2Cl;
- and each of R4, R5, R6, R7 and R8, is independently selected from the group consisting of H, halogen, C1 to C25 straight-chain, branched or cyclic, optionally substituted, alkane or alkene, and C6 to C25, optionally substituted, aryl or heteroaryl;
- or of formula (VIII):
- wherein Rf is CF2CF2OCFClCF2Cl;
- and each of R9, R10, R11 and R12, is independently selected from group consisting of H, C1 to C25 straight-chain, branched or cyclic, optionally substituted, alkane or alkene, optionally containing heteroatoms, wherein up to four of R9, R10, R11, and R12 may be bonded to one another in pairs by single or double bond;
- or of formula (IX):
- wherein Rf is CF2CF2OCFClCF2Cl;
- and each of R13, R14, R15, R16 and R17, is independently selected from the group consisting of H, C1 to C25 straight-chain, branched or cyclic, optionally substituted, alkane or alkene, optionally containing heteroatoms, wherein up to four of R13, R14, R15, R16 and R17 may be bonded to one another in pairs by single or double bond.
