Abstract
The system and method of training an animal to jump using a variable length oxer. The oxer having one or more jump cups located on an adjustable length arm to provide for a jump of varying depth and/or height. The oxer mounts to a standard using a variety of mechanisms. The mount may comprise a jump cup. The oxer may comprise a counterweight and/or a support leg.

An apparatus used for creating a jump comprising,
- an arm having a first end and a second end;
- a jump cup attached to the first end of the arm;
- a mount attached to the first end of the arm;
- and
- an auxiliary jump cup attached to the second end of the arm.
