Abstract
An optical polymeric material that can substantially block the transmission of ultraviolet light as well as selected portion of violet light. The polymeric material will include monomeric units of one or more lens monomers, and monomeric units of a monomer of formula (I).
Claims22
An optical polymer comprising monomeric units of one or more lens monomers and monomeric units of a light absorbing monomer of formula I
- wherein A is NH or NR;
- B is OH, NH2 and F;
- R1 and R2 are independently selected from the group consisting of H, Me, Et, i-propyl, t-butyl, F, Cl, Br, I, OH, OR, NH2, NH3+, NHR, NR2, NH2R+, NR3+, CN, C(O)OH, C(O)OR, C(O)R, Ar, OAr, SH, SR, S(O)OR, and D, wherein at least one of R1 and R2 is D, and D is an aliphatic radical with one to twelve carbons, includes an ethylenic polymerizable group, and is optionally substituted with oxygen or nitrogen, and wherein R is a C1-C6 alkyl.
An optical polymer comprising monomeric units of one or more lens monomers and monomeric units of a light absorbing monomer of formula IV
- wherein A is NH or NR5;
- G is H, C1-C4alkyl, Cl or OR5, and R5 is C1-C4 alkyl;
- and n is 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6.
