Trust level activation

A computer-readable storage medium, not comprising a signal per se, including processor-executable instructions that when executed on at least one processor performs actions comprising:

• associating a privilege level with an application;
• maintaining a plurality of application programming interfaces (APIs), the plurality of APIs including a first API associated with a base trust level, the base trust level allows an application with any privilege level access to a resource;
• receiving a request from an application to access a first resource;
• and
• when the application executes within an isolation execution environment:
• generating an API object including at least one method that allows access to the first resource;
• and
• providing the API object to the application when the first resource is associated with a base trust level, wherein the application invokes the API object in the isolation execution environment.

A system comprising:

• at least one processor;
• and
• at least one memory, comprising:
• a plurality of components, at least one component associated with one of a plurality of trust levels, the plurality of trust levels including a first trust level associated with a resource that is accessed in a broker process, a second trust level associated with a resource that is accessible to a high privilege level application, and a third trust level associated with a resource that is accessible to an application associated with any privilege level;
• and
• a trust engine that receives a request to access a resource from an application associated with a low privilege level and provides access to the requesting application based on the trust level associated with the requested resource.
