A composition containing at least one disinfecting or decontaminating substance and/or complex of substances for external care and/or treatment of wounds to a human or animal body, wherein the at least one substance and/or complex of substances is incorporated in an absorbent wound dressing containing super-absorbent particles, in such way that the wound exudate absorbed by the super-absorbent particles serves as dissolving agent for the substances or complexes of substances mentioned, thus contributing to their dissolution and the introduction, or diffusion, thereof to the wound, wherein the disinfecting or decontaminating substance or complexes of substances is octenidine or octenidine dihydrochloride.
