A non-transitory computer-readable medium containing computer-executable instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform a method for determining whether a signal of interest is present, the method comprising:
- receiving at least one bit value containing information about whether the signal of interest is present from at least one transmitter, wherein the at least one bit value is transmitted from the at least one transmitter at a set of random time instances, and wherein the at least one bit value is calculated without performing quantization;
- calculating a combined log-likelihood ratio based at least in part on the at least one bit value;
- and
- determining whether the signal of interest is present based at least in part on the combined log-likelihood ratio.
