Press Fitting Device, Components and Method

A fitting, comprising:

• a main body component having an axially outer rim, an interior wall and an exterior wall, wherein the interior wall defines a cavity extending axially through the main body component;
• and
• an interior indicator securely maintained against a portion of the interior wall, with the interior indicator having a body portion with a first thickness and a flange portion with a second thickness, wherein the first thickness and second thickness are measured from the interior wall radially into the cavity, wherein the first thickness is larger than the second thickness, and wherein the interior indicator is expandable upon compression such that the flange portion extends axially outwardly of the axially outer rim.

A method of providing a fitting, comprising:

• providing a main body component having an axially outer rim, an interior wall and an exterior wall, wherein the interior wall defines a cavity extending axially through the main body component;
• positioning an interior indicator in the cavity so as to be securely maintained against a portion of the interior wall, with the interior indicator having a body portion with a first thickness and a flange portion with a second thickness, wherein the first thickness and second thickness are measured from the interior wall radially into the cavity, wherein the first thickness is larger than the second thickness, and wherein the interior indicator is expandable upon compression such that the flange portion extends axially outwardly of the axially outer rim.
