Identity-based content access control

An apparatus, comprising:

• one or more computing processors;
• a player module configured to operate on the one or more computing processors to present a piece of content;
• one or more facial and/or voice recognition modules configured to operate on the one or more computing processors to identify, in association with presentation of the piece of content, one or more content consumers that are physically proximate to the apparatus;
• and
• an access control module configured to operate on the one or more computing processors to:
• determine one or more access permissions for the identified one or more content consumers;
• and
• control access to the content based on the determined one or more access permissions.

A computer-implemented method, comprising:

• presenting, by a computing device, a piece of content;
• identifying, by the computing device, and in association with presentation of the piece of content, one or more content consumers that are physically proximate to the apparatus;
• determining, by the computing device, one or more access permissions for the identified one or more content consumers;
• and
• controlling, by the computing device, access to the content based on the determined one or more access permissions.
