Abstract
A cathode active material for a magnesium secondary battery, the cathode active material including a composite transition metal oxide which is expressed by Chemical Formula 1 and intercalates and deintercalates magnesium: MgxMa1-yMbyO2+d Chemical Formula 1 wherein 0≦x≦1, 0.05≦y<0.5, and −0.3≦d<1, and Ma and Mb are each independently a metal selected from the group consisting of Groups 5 to 12 of the Periodic Table.

A cathode active material for a magnesium secondary battery, the cathode active material comprising a composite transition metal oxide which is expressed by Chemical Formula 1 and intercalates and deintercalates magnesium:
- MgxMa1-yMbyO2+d Chemical Formula 1
- wherein 0≦x≦1, 0.05≦y<0.5, and −0.3≦d<1, and
- Ma and Mb are each independently a metal selected from the group consisting of Groups 5 to 12 of the Periodic Table.
