Integrated biorefinery for production of liquid fuels

A system for the production of conversion products from synthesis gas, the system comprising:

• a mixing apparatus configured for mixing steam with at least one carbonaceous material to produce a reformer feedstock, wherein the mixing apparatus comprises a pressure vessel configured for operation at a pressure of greater than about 30 psig (206.8 kPa);
• a reformer configured to produce, from the reformer feedstock, a reformer product comprising synthesis gas comprising hydrogen and carbon monoxide, and also producing a hot flue gas;
• a synthesis gas conversion apparatus configured to catalytically convert at least a portion of the synthesis gas in the reformer product into synthesis gas conversion product comprising primarily liquid hydrocarbons, and to separate, from the synthesis gas conversion product, a spent catalyst stream comprising spent catalyst and associated synthesis gas conversion product separated therewith, and a tailgas comprising at least one gas selected from the group consisting of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrogen and methane;
• a steam superheater configured to produce superheated steam via heat transfer from the hot flue gas to a steam superheater feed steam, and comprising an outlet for a reduced-temperature flue gas;
• and
• one or more steam generator configured to produce the steam superheater feed steam via heat transfer from the reformer product gas and the reduced-temperature flue gas.
