Push button configuration of devices

A system comprising:

• one or more circuits for use in a first device configured to communicate with a second device and a third device via a wired network, the one or more circuits configured to:
• determine that a configuration button on the second device has been activated;
• determine whether a configuration button has been activated on the first device or the third device within a time interval from a time at which the configuration button on the second device is activated;
• in response to determining that the configuration button has been activated on either the first device or the third device within the time interval, allow the second device to be authenticated on the wired network;
• and
• in response to determining that the configuration button has not been activated on either the first device or the third device within the time interval, prevent admission of the second device to the wired network.

A system comprising:

• one or more circuits for use in a first device configured to communicate with a second device and a third device via a multimedia over coax alliance (MoCA) network, the one or more circuits configured to:
• receive a first indication indicating that a configuration button on the second device has been activated;
• determine whether a second indication is received within a time interval from a time associated with the first indication, the second indication indicating a configuration button on the third device has been activated;
• in response to determining that the configuration button has been activated on the third device within the time interval, allow the second device to be authenticated on the MoCA network;
• and
• in response to determining that the configuration button has not been activated on the third device within the time interval, prevent admission of the second device to the MoCA network.
