Abstract
The present invention provides novel polymers having chelating functionality and comprising units derived from a vinyl aminocarboxylate monomer which comprises units derived from iminodiecetic acid, iminodisuccinic acid, or a salt thereof, and a vinyl epoxy benzene monomer.
Claims6
A polymer having chelating functionality comprising units derived from
- (a) an ethylenically unsaturated aminocarboxylate monomer having the following general formula:
- wherein R1 is COOX1, R2 is COOX2, R4 is COOX4 and R5 is COOX5;
- X1, X2, X4, X5 are each, independently, hydrogen or a mono- or polyvalent cation and the total charge on the monomer is zero;
- and R3 is a polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated group located at the ortho-, para-, or meta- substituted position of the benzene ring.
