Abstract
Methods and apparatus for controlling interdetector band broadening during the analysis of a sample injected into a chromatography system. A column flow is diluted with a dilution flow after the sample exits the chromatography system, and the diluted sample is analyzed by one or a combination of analysis instruments such as a light scattering detector, refractive index detector, an ultraviolet absorption detector.
Claims22
A method of controlling interdetector band broadening of a sample, the method comprising:
- A. introducing the sample into a column flow which flows through a chromatography system;
- B. controlling interdetector band broadening by diluting the column flow and sample with a dilution flow after it exits the chromatography system;
- C. transferring the diluted sample to at least one analysis instrument;
- and
- D. analyzing the diluted sample with the at least one analysis instrument.
A sample analysis system for controlling interdetector band broadening, the sample analysis system comprising:
- A. a column flow and a dilution flow, wherein the column flow is diluted with the dilution flow to control interdetector band broadening;
- B. a sample injector configured to introduce a sample into the column flow;
- and
- C. at least one sample analysis instrument configured to analyze the diluted column flow.
