Tile-centric user interface for query-based representative content of search result documents

A method, comprising acts of:

• processing a query to return search results;
• retrieving a corresponding representative image for each of the search results;
• displaying a set of the representative images as tiles in a tile-based user interface;
• and
• sending a search result to the tile-based user interface based on selection of a corresponding tile of the representative image.

A computer-readable medium comprising computer-executable instructions that when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform acts of:

• processing a query to return search results;
• classifying entities associated with search result pages to return a corresponding representative entity for each of the search results;
• ranking the entities;
• displaying a ranked set of the representative entities as tiles in a tile-based user interface;
• and
• sending a search result to the tile-based user interface based on selection of a corresponding tile of a representative entity.
